Board and Committee Experience
Board and committee Experience
I am currently on the Science and Knowledge Holder Board for Oceanic Global, and on the Impact Investment Committee for Seaworthy Collective.
I am on the Regional Board for Young Life for the California South Coast region - spanning from Orange County to the US/Mexico border, and the national Young Life board for younger women’s engagement and philanthropy (photo above from one of our biannual charity weekends I help organize). I have served with Young Life as a volunteer or as a committee member for almost 20 years and I recently won Young Life’s 2024 Young Professional of the Year Award.
I have also been on grant and fellowship review committees for multiple nonprofits and government entities, including StartBlue, Activate, Walking Softer, Ocean Exchange, National Science Foundation, and California Sea Grant.
Previous Board work
I was previously on the Board of Directors for the The Climate Initiative, a non-partisan, solutions-oriented organization pushing to mobilize the nation’s youth in the fight against climate change; I am currently helping them develop curriculum around plastic pollution. I also served as a scientific advisor for Clear Blue Sea, a marine debris cleanup organization in San Diego, and for Plastics Credit Exchange, an innovative nonprofit based in the Philippines helping companies become plastic neutral. In graduate school I was on the leadership committee for Women and Minorities in Science at Scripps, and in undergrad I helped start Duke’s first student sustainability initiative organization.
