Print Interviews
In more recent years, as I have expanded my work beyond just microplastics to other aspects of climate change, I have been asked by journalists for my thoughts on all manner of topics, from oceanic phenomena and the effects of climate change on island nations to the environmental impacts of AI. Here are just a few of those articles.
Fox 8

I was interviewed by a local reporter for the Louisiana Illuminator about a catastrophic chemical spill that occurred at Smitty’s Supply in Roseland, Louisiana in late 2025. There was evidence of at least 24 different PFAS, or forever chemicals, in the surrounding stormwater, with many well beyond the EPA safety limits even months after the spill. This story was picked up by both Yahoo and Fox 8 print and TV news.
Forbes

I was interviewed by Forbes about how Sikkim, India became the world’s first fully organic state through their adoption of regenerative agriculture, and the cobenefits this has brought to the community. This story drew on a lot of my food and agriculture knowledge gained working at King Philanthropies.
States Newsroom
April 9, 2025
I was interviewed by States Newsroom about the climate impacts of AI and data centers, from both an energy and water perspective. This story came out in April 2025, before most people were talking about the environmental impact of data centers, and generated some buzz.
The author asked me to do a follow up piece in June 2025 entitled “Environmentalists say they’re cautious to adopt AI into their work” discussing the cost/benefit analysis of using it for climate research.
I talked to Yahoo News for a piece entitled “The Major Cities that are Becoming too Hot to Live in.” This piece examined the extreme heat days we are already having, where extreme heat is projected to be strongest by 2050 and 2070, and how that will affect cases of heat stroke, exhaustion, and death. There is a strong possibility that entire regions of the world will become unlivable if we don’t address climate change now.

Forbes interviewed me for an article entitled “3 Lessons on Dominica’s Race to become the World’s First Climate-Resilient Nation,” which focuses on the incredible pressure climate change puts on small island nations.
-
Similar to the pieces I did for Food and Wine and Travel and Leisure, I spoke to Home and Gardens about what was the safest, least toxic cookware to use and whether aluminum was safe to cook with (it is!).
-
I talked to a local newspaper, Los Cerritos News, about the main effects of climate change on California. We specifically talked about the effects of increased drought and wildfires on California, and how that is leading to increased insurance costs.
-
I was interviewed by Newsweek about a viral TikTok video showing a woman swimming near a dangerous tropical fish called a Titan triggerfish. I shared facts about these fish and how to protect yourself while swimming near one. Sometimes my most basic marine biology knowledge is what is needed for these interviews!

I was interviewed by a website called A-Z animals for two articles, one about Hunting Tactics of Ocean Predators and one about How Ocean Animals Build Their Homes. Both articles were also picked up by AOL.
