Podcast Interviews

The ecoChristian Podcast

April 22, 2026

This podcast discusses what it means to be both a Christian and a lover of the Earth and sustainability, and this particular episode came out on Earth Day. The host asked me all kinds of questions about my research, my career path, and how my science and faith co-exist and inform each other. We also dove into the problem of plastic pollution and how we can help solve it and limit our own exposure.

BBC More or Less

January 9, 2022

BBC’s More or Less podcast looks at the numbers and the stats in popular news stories and sees how realistic they are. After a very popular YouTuber Mr. Beast came out with a fundraising campaign to raise $30 million to remove 30 million pounds of trash from the ocean, More or Less interviewed me about how much trash was actually in the ocean, how much of a dent 30 million pounds would really make, and if a dollar per pound was a realistic estimate for a cleanup effort.

In this Audible Original series, the hosts examine the planet Earth, from formation, to current geological state, to its future. I am in Episode 6, as we discuss the current geological epoch we are in, the Anthropocene, and how humans have fundamentally altered the earth. I discuss how we are living in the Plastic Age, leaving plastics behind as fossils for future geologists to find.

The Language of God podcast is produced by BioLogos and Dr. Francis Collins, and focuses on the nexus between science and faith, and finding harmony between science and Christianity. I was interviewed for a special episode on Water: Exploring Spiritual and Scientific Depths.

I also encourage investors to support sustainable solutions during these challenging funding times.

  • This podcast, hosted by one of my fellow Scripps alumnae, aims to put a spotlight on conservation leaders and advance projects that benefit wildlife and their habitat. It was featured as one of the Top 20 Wildlife Podcasts of 2020 (Feedspot). My episode focused on the ecological effects of microplasticcs.

  • Tumble Podcast is an award-winning science podcast for kids. It is aimed at elementary-middle school aged audiences. They start each episode by having kids ask the questions they are curious about, and then find scientists to answer those questions. I was happy to answer questions about marine debris, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and how kids can help solve the problem. This was one of my favorite early interviews, and is one of Tumble’s founder’s favorite episodes!
